England and New Zealand are facing each other in the 2nd Test match of the ongoing Test series between both the teams. The second test is being played in Trent Bridge. England won the first test match with the help of the brilliant effort of Joe Root, James Anderson and Matthew Potts.

New Zealand are eager to make a comeback in this second test. England won the toss and decided to field first. However, England couldn’t utilise the toss advantage. Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell hit brilliant centuries to take New Zealand to a dominating position in the 2nd Test.

However James Anderson once again showed why he is one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time. He took 3 wickets in the first innings and gave away just 62 runs on a flat pitch. The way he set up Michael Bracewell was brilliant to watch. He bowled 10 consecutive dot balls to Bracewell between 130th and 136th over.

Anderson mixed it up pretty well with inswingers and outswingers. He kept the batsman guessing. Finally on the 5th ball of the 136th over, Anderson bowled a full bowl outside the off stump which took the edge of Bracewell and reached the hands of Joe Root who was standing at the first slip.

Kane Williamson ruled out of 2nd Test due to COVID

Michael Bracewell was dismissed on a score of 49 runs by James Anderson. He missed his half century by 1 run. It was also the debut match of Bracewell. He got a chance in this match in place of Kane Williamson who was ruled out of the second test due to COVID.

“It’s such a shame for Kane to be forced to withdraw on the eve of such an important match. We are all feeling for him at this time and know how disappointed he will be.”, New Zealand coach Gary Stead informed the media about Kane Williamson missing the 2nd Test. NZ opener Tom Latham is the stand-in Captain for this second test match.
