In the opening game of the three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and India, all-rounder Janith Liyanage of Sri Lanka made a mistake by walking back to the changing room instead of taking a step towards the first slip. On August 2, the incident took place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
In the current match against India, the batters for the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team aren’t enjoying themselves at the bat. To put the opposition under pressure and stop the flow of runs, Rohit Sharma’s team has bowled incredibly well and taken wickets frequently.
Janith Liyanage attempted to counterattack and made sure he scored some quick runs for his team after Sri Lanka lost five wickets for just 101 runs. Despite losing early wickets, the batsman produced some excellent shots and made sure he kept his team in the game.
Janith Liyanage was playing well when he made a huge mistake and left the field even though he wasn’t out. The hitter’s eyes brightened as Axar Patel delivered a tossed-up delivery on the second ball of the 33rd over.

Batsman Janith Liyanage of Sri Lanka shimmed down the track, attempting to go big. After spinning off of KL Rahul’s thigh and deflecting to Rohit Sharma, who made a catch at slips to eliminate the batsman, it appeared as though the ball had taken the outside edge.
Though Janith Liyanage was certain he had stolen the ball, he walked off after the umpire failed to award it. The umpire raised his finger, too, as he watched the hitter walk back. The batsman, who appeared to be in excellent touch, was rewarded by the India National Cricket Team with a wicket, but it all seemed perplexing when the batter returned to the pavilion.
Subsequently, the UltraEdge displayed a spike upon the bat hitting the ground, but when the ball was close to the bat, the spike was absent, indicating the absence of an outside edge. The entire Sri Lankan team appeared stunned as the batter made his way back to the hut.
India’s bowler, Axar Patel, has been the top choice for India in their match against Sri Lanka. He has picked two wickets and has been economical, helping his team reach the top. Patel also picked wickets for Sadeera Samarawickrama and Janith Liyanage, resulting in a 2/33 figure in 10 overs. Other bowlers have also contributed, each picking one wicket. India aims to finish the innings quickly and win the game.
