In the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 match against the Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday, September 13, Jason Holder and Rovman Powell of the Barbados Royals executed a remarkable double act near the boundary to secure a catch. Holder ultimately claimed the catch, dismissing the formidable Nicholas Pooran.
The ninth over of the innings saw the departure of Pooran, who slashed madly at a full ball outside off from left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj – it was a miscued hit that went straight into Powell’s hands. But when he saw himself going over the ropes, Holder caught it after the skipper had thrown it just in time.

Powell had played an important role with his bat earlier too; he had scored 59 runs off 38 deliveries which included five sixes as Royals were able to reach a decent target of 159.

With four runs needed, the Royals took the upper hand in the last two balls of the game but could not cross over the line. The Knight Riders were sealed by Terrance Hinds because Holder delivered a full toss.
Sunil Narine and Jason Roy, the openers for the Knight Riders were dismissed early while Shaqkere Paris (35), Nicholas Pooran (35) and Keacy Carty (32) tried to bring their side close to the target. However, it was Kieron Pollard who could not make an impact as captain.
Akeal Hosein made a valuable contribution of 20 off 10 balls that included 4 boundaries while Hinds remained not out on 14 that had 2 fours and one six. In terms of standings, they are currently ranked second and third within this season’s tournament with both teams having three wins out of four games.
