Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a perfect in-swinger to remove Australia skipper Tim Paine in the morning session of day 2 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. With Australia reeling at 255 for six, India have made a comeback in the Test match after the hosts dominated day 1 of the contest.
Starting at 166 for two, Steve Smith and Labuschagne looked in complete control of things dishing out boundaries against Indian pacers. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj looked pretty ordinary as Australia’s best batting duo made run-scoring look simple.
In the process, Smith registered his first half-century of the series after four single-digit knocks. The talismanic run-scorer has looked completely different ever since he came to bat. Steve Smith took on the Indian spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja not giving them an opportunity to settle while Marnus Labuschagne slowly inched towards his first century of the year.

But Jadeja struck twice in quick succession in the morning session of day 2 to crawl back in the game. He removed Labuschagne nine short of his hundred before inducing Matthew Wade to play a rash shot which holed out to Jasprit Bumrah.
With the new ball available and India already having a taste of the blood, Ajinkya Rahane handed the red cherry to his strike bowler and Bumrah didn’t disappoint. He trapped Cameron Green immediately as the umpires called for lunch.
Jasprit Bumrah unsettles Paine’s timber
Rahane persisted with his pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in the post-lunch session which continued to build on the pressure. While Steve Smith looked comfortable from one end, Bumrah didn’t take much time to breach Tim Paine’s defense.
It was a good length ball from Jasprit Bumrah that nipped back in at 138.1kph. The Aussie skipper’s feet went nowhere as he pushed his hands forward. The ball found the gap between bat and pad to hit the top of off-stump. It might have taken a slight deflection off the back pad but India rejoice the dismissal as Australia are six down for 255 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah set up the dismissal brilliant much as he did for Cameron Green. He bowled a couple of deliveries outside the off-stump before getting one in to unsettle Tim Paine’s timber.
