In the IPL 2024 match between the two teams, Mumbai Indians ace seamer Jasprit Bumrah displayed a moment of brilliance with the ball when he castled Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Sunil Narine, sending the Windies maverick back to the hut for a golden duck.

At the crowded Eden Gardens, where excited spectators were waiting for the rain to stop, the energy was palpable. After much suspense, the 16-over match finally began at 9:15 PM. Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, won the toss and chose to bowl first on a difficult surface.

The Kolkata Knight Riders will try to maintain their dominance at home against the Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens on Friday after rising to the top of the league.

In their most recent meeting, MI was able to snap a four-game losing run against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, while KKR thoroughly defeated the Lucknow Super Giants.

Phil Salt and Narine, who have been outstanding for KKR this season, came out to bat first for the team. The Sri Lankan seamer dismissed the Salt in the same over after the Englishman hit a six off the opening ball from Nuwan Thushara.

When Jasprit Bumrah entered the bowling to begin the day, Narine misjudged the swing of the ball that came back in to hit the off stump and wipe out the Windies maverick. Bumrah’s first delivery of the day struck timber.

The rain and damp outfield caused a delay in the game’s start. The game eventually started at 9:15 PM, despite being originally slated to start at 7:30 PM. There are now only 16 overs per side in this contest. After winning the toss, the Mumbai Indians elected to bowl first.

With 16 points in the bank, the Knight Riders are practically certain to make the playoffs. MI, on the other hand, is no longer in contention for the top four spots.
