[WATCH] Jasprit Bumrah’s Witty Moment Steals The Show After Day 2 Of Third Test

A light-hearted moment unfolded during Jasprit Bumrah’s press conference after Day 2 of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s on Friday, June 11. As a journalist’s phone began ringing mid-session, Bumrah didn’t answer it but jokingly remarked, “Somebody’s wife is calling,” leaving the room in splits.

The Indian pace spearhead, who had missed the previous Test due to workload management, marked a stellar return at Lord’s by claiming a five-wicket haul. He finished with impressive figures of 5 for 74 in 27 overs, helping bowl England out for 387. In response, India ended Day 2 at 145 for 3.

During the post-day press interaction, Bumrah was responding to a question when the phone rang, prompting his quick-witted comment and a wave of laughter among the media present.

“Somebody’s wife is calling, so I will not pick it up. I just left it that way.”

Bumrah’s Light Moment Cracks Up Media, Calls Lord’s Pitch ‘On The Slower Side’

The Indian pacer’s humorous remark had the media bursting into laughter. Shifting focus to cricketing matters, Jasprit Bumrah was asked whether he had made any technical adjustments to his bowling for the Lord’s Test. He responded that he hadn’t made any such changes, but noted that the pitch was a bit on the slower side.

Reflecting on his performance and the nature of the surface, he shared his insights, saying:

“There were not many technical changes that I made. The wicket was a little on the slower side. But we always knew that when the wicket is softer, with the heat going in, the wicket will get faster and the wicket did quicken up a little bit. Nothing massively that I changed.”

Bumrah made a significant impact in the first session on Day 2, removing England skipper Ben Stokes for 44, centurion Joe Root for 104, and Chris Woakes for a duck. He later came back to clean up Jofra Archer for 4, sealing a thoroughly earned five-wicket haul.
