Senior fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat claimed his maiden Test wicket in the second Test against Bangladesh on his return after 12 years. The final match of the series got underway at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday, December 22.

The left-arm pacer made his Test debut against South Africa in Centurion. He remained wicketless in his first international outing as India lost the match by an innings and 25 runs. However, Jaydev Unadkat’s wicketless run came to an end in the second Test against Bangladesh when he dismissed Zakir Hasan.

Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and elected to bat first. India new ball bowlers tested the batters with the right line and length before Jaydev Unadkat drew the first blood. He used his height to extract extra bounce off the surface, which has been far from a typical low and slow subcontinent wicket.

Last match’s centurion Zakir Hasan could not deal with the extra bounce from a length, which hit right on the gloves while attempting to play a half-hearted cut shot, too close to the body. The ball jumped and was safely gathered by skipper KL Rahul at fourth slip.

Jaydev Unadkat looked like a relieved man as he had his arms widely spread with his eyes closed. He was also congratulated by his teammates as he finally got the reward for his hard work in domestic cricket over the last decade.
