Watch – Jimmy Neesham Produces An Acrobatic Effort To Save A Six

Jimmy Neesham

New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham produced an outrageous effort in the boundary to save a sure shot six during the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 clash against India in Dubai. Meanwhile, put to bat first, the men in blues suffered another top-order collapse and stare at another defeat.

The incident took place in the 14th over of the innings as Jimmy Neesham pulled off an acrobatic effort at deep backward square backpedalling. Hardik Pandya managed to find a fat top-edge and Neesham tried to catch that one-handed but it hit his hand and lobbed inside.

It would have been one of the catches of this T20 World Cup but Jimmy Neesham was never going to pull that off, with his body going backwards with the cushions very close to his feet at the same time. And poor running sees them only get a single.

Watch the clip here:

Earlier in the day, India pulled the first surprise opening with Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul and pushed Rohit Sharma to one drop. Kishan didn’t have a great debut holing out to deep square leg fielder in the 3rd over of the match.

Rohit got a reprieve only in his first ball after Adam Milne spilled a dolly. He played a couple of shots to release the pressure but Rahul struggled to get going and eventually got out at 18 runs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also followed the suit to be at 48/4 in 10.1 overs.

India never managed to get going with New Zealand building pressure with each delivery. The Asian Giants will hope Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja to flourish and take India to a challenging total.
