Veteran New Zealand batter Kane Williamson was left disappointed with his dismissal on Day 1 (Saturday, December 14) of the third Test against England at Seddon Park in Hamilton, ending a promising knock of 44.
The former New Zealand captain threw his head back in frustration after failing to keep the ball away from the stumps. The dismissal occurred in the 59th over of the innings, bowled by right-arm seamer Matthew Potts.
The 34-year-old tried to negotiate a harmless length delivery from Potts, but the ball bounced and dribbled behind him. Unable to kick it away in time, Williamson was left frustrated as his innings ended on 44. You can watch the video here:

It was Potts’ second wicket of the innings, having earlier removed New Zealand skipper Tom Latham for 63. After opting to bowl first, openers Latham and Will Young put together a 105-run stand. However, the visitors bounced back strongly, dismantling the middle order swiftly. New Zealand slipped from a solid 105-0 to a precarious 231-7 at one point.
Kane Williamson became the first New Zealand player to amass 9000 Test runs earlier in the series
Meanwhile, the veteran right-hander became the first Black Caps batter to reach that milestone during his 61-run innings in the opening Test in Christchurch. However, it has been a series to forget for the home side, as England have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead after victories in Christchurch and Wellington.
The Kiwis entered the series with confidence and a potential spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final within reach, especially after their 3-0 sweep of Team India in their own backyard. However, losses in the first two Tests have eliminated the inaugural champions from contention. Still, the hosts will aim to avoid a series whitewash.
