Yash Thakur of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) claimed the crucial wicket of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad during the IPL 2024 match at Ekana Stadium on Friday (April 19). Gaikwad, who had scored consecutive half-centuries, was dismissed for just 17 runs off 13 balls.

The dismissal occurred in the fifth over of the Super Kings’ innings. Thakur delivered a length ball outside off, prompting Gaikwad to go for a drive. However, the right-hander only managed to edge the ball to wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who made a low diving catch to his right as the ball moved away from the batter.

The 25-year-old recently took five wickets against Gujarat Titans (GT). Meanwhile, Gaikwad has accumulated 241 runs in seven innings for his team.

LSG claim early wickets against CSK in the IPL 2024 game

A precise bowling performance by Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur helped LSG claim early wickets against the five-time champion CSK in the IPL match on Friday. Mohsin Khan dismissed Rachin Ravindra for a golden duck, providing an ideal start for Lucknow. As of now, the Super Kings are 68/3 after the powerplay, with Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube at the crease.

Ajinkya Rahane (36 off 24) was the latest batsman to be dismissed, bowled by Krunal Pandya. Lucknow will now aim to get back to winning ways after losing to Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in their last two matches. They have secured three victories in their first six games so far.

Meanwhile, the defending champions enter the match following victories against KKR and Mumbai Indians, aiming to secure a third consecutive win in the tournament. LSG and CSK will face each other again in their next match at MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 23.
