[WATCH]- Kohli and Williamson Share Heartfelt Hug Following IND vs NZ Champions Trophy 2025 Match

India’s star batter, Virat Kohli, shared a heartfelt hug with New Zealand captain Kane Williamson as both teams exchanged handshakes after their Champions Trophy 2025 clash on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. A video of their warm moment has been making rounds on social media, showing them smiling.

Marking his milestone 300th ODI, Kohli had a disappointing outing, scoring just 11 before Glenn Phillips pulled off a stunning catch at backward point to dismiss him. On the other hand, Williamson played a resilient knock of 81, keeping New Zealand’s hopes alive for a long time.

However, his efforts weren’t enough, as the Kiwis fell short by 44 runs while chasing 250 on a challenging Dubai pitch. You can watch the video capturing the heartfelt embrace between the two seasoned batters here:

Virat Kohli was energetic on the field, entertaining fans with his trademark gestures. Team India secured a dominant victory, finishing at the top of the group stage with three straight wins. They are set to face Steve Smith-led Australia in the first semi-final on March 4 in Dubai.

Kane Williamson regains form just in time for New Zealand’s semi-final

Despite the Black Caps’ difficulties against spin, the former captain’s return to form is a significant boost ahead of the semi-final. The 34-year-old had managed only six runs in his last two matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan in this eight-team tournament.

However, his resilient 81 against a formidable Indian bowling attack will give him confidence as he prepares to face South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 5. New Zealand had convincingly defeated South Africa in the tri-series featuring Pakistan before the Champions Trophy.

However, the Proteas are in strong form, having secured dominant wins over Afghanistan and England to finish atop Group B. On Sunday, the Kiwis won the toss, and Matt Henry’s five-wicket haul limited India to 249/9.

However, they struggled against spin, losing nine wickets, as Varun Chakaravarthy claimed a fifer, handing them a defeat.
