India’s Kuldeep Yadav produced a brilliant piece of fielding to end New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell’s stay during the third and final ODI on Sunday, January 18, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The breakthrough came off the opening delivery of the 45th over of the visitors’ innings. Mohammed Siraj bowled a well-disguised slower ball at 121.3 kph, which Mitchell tried to pull but could only get a top edge.
Positioned at deep backward square leg, Kuldeep sprinted in, stayed low, and completed a sharp catch despite the challenging sunlight. You can watch the video here:

Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell produced a superb knock, amassing 137 from 131 deliveries with the help of 15 boundaries and three sixes. His departure saw New Zealand reduced to 283/5 at the end of 44.1 overs.
Centuries From Mitchell And Phillips Lift New Zealand Above 300 In Third ODI
Asked to bat first, New Zealand were rocked early as Henry Nicholls fell for a golden duck in the opening over to Arshdeep Singh. The pressure continued in the next over when Harshit Rana removed Devon Conway for five, off the very first ball he faced. Will Young and Daryl Mitchell then rebuilt the innings with a 53-run stand for the third wicket before Rana struck again to dismiss Young for 30.
The middle phase belonged to Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, who took control with a dominant 219-run partnership for the fourth wicket, coming off 186 deliveries. Mitchell went on to register his ninth ODI century, while Phillips raised his second. The pair scored 137 from 131 balls and 106 off 88 respectively.
Late in the innings, Mitchell Hay (2) and Zakary Foulkes (10) departed cheaply. At the time of writing, New Zealand were 312/7 after 48 overs, with Michael Bracewell (17) and Kristian Clarke (1) unbeaten. For India, Arshdeep Singh stood out with the ball, finishing with figures of 3/63 from his full quota of overs.
