Australia won the second game of the three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka, clinching the series on Lankan soil. The Aussies have managed to secure the 2-0 lead ahead of the third clash on Saturday, this week.
Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper, won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka again, botched to deliver, as wickets kept falling after every interval. Although, in all these crises, there was a partnership looming between the No.3 batter Charith Asalanka and Kusal Mendis. The duo added 36 runs for the third wicket before Asalanka departed from Glenn Maxwell’s decent delivery.
Mendis then was batting carefully, but it was Jhye Richardson, who turned the tables around, for the Lanka wicketkeeper batter. Richardson bowled a short-pitched delivery, of which, Mendis tried to pull but missed it completely.
The right-hand batter had to take it on his ribs, which eventually made him lose control and the 27-year-old fell down. Meanwhile, Mendis’ bat crashed on the top of the stumps and he was dismissed in a hapless way.

Besides, it was the Aussie show again, as the Richardsons, Kane, and Jhye, picked up four and three wickets respectively; while, Maxwell bagged a couple. Dasun Shanaka led Sri Lanka and managed to put on a total of 214 for 9.
Australia clinch the series with one game to play
In reply, after a decent opening run-stand between skipper Finch and David Warner, Australia too, seemed to be fading to score, as the Lankan leggie, Wanindu Hasaranga bowled a brilliant spell of 4 for 33.
It was Matthew Wade then, who cautiously made it for his side. Wade scored 26 runs not out, off 26 deliveries. Australia won the game by three wickets.
Furthermore, apart from the last T20I game in Pallekele, the two sides will play a five-match One-Day International series and two Tests in Galle.
