[WATCH]- Marco Jansen Dismisses Jasprit Bumrah, Bringing Back Memories Of Their Battles In 2022

Bringing back memories of their intense clash in India’s 2021 tour of South Africa, Marco Jansen got Jasprit Bumrah out on the first day of the current Test in Centurion. Struggling to survive with India at 190/7, Jasprit Bumrah faced difficulty connecting with most of his initial 18 deliveries.

On the 19th ball, Jansen delivered a full delivery on the off-stump, and Bumrah attempted a powerful shot down the ground. However, he managed only a thick inside edge, leading the ball to rebound onto the stumps.

During the second Test of the 2021-22 series, Bumrah and Jansen confronted each other on the pitch. Jansen delivered a series of bouncers to Bumrah, who struggled to make solid contact. Frustrated, Jansen resorted to sledging, but Bumrah invited him for a conversation. The umpires eventually intervened to separate the players.

Bumrah sought payback in the third Test by dismissing Jansen and giving him a stern look. Unfortunately, these incidents didn’t contribute to India’s victory in the series. Tensions remained elevated despite India winning the first Test, as Virat Kohli’s team went on to lose consecutive matches and ultimately surrendered the series 2-1.

Jasprit Bumrah was the final wicket to fall on the first day of the opening Test

Following Bumrah’s exit, KL Rahul, the last established batsman, counterattacked the South African bowlers. While Jansen wasn’t the primary target of Rahul’s aggression, the left-arm seamer engaged in some banter with the wicketkeeper-batsman earlier in the innings, to which Rahul responded with a smile.

Rahul propelled India beyond the 200-run mark with his brisk 70, aided by Mohammed Siraj. However, as India gained momentum, rain disrupted play, leading the umpires to call for early stumps.

India finished the day at 208/8, and while Rohit Sharma’s team is relatively content with the score, they hope KL Rahul can sustain the aggressive batting approach in the next session.
