[WATCH] Marnus Labuschagne Fires A Bouncer At Pat Cummins In A Pre-Match Net Session Ahead Of The 1st AUS vs IND Test

Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne bowled a wild bouncer to Pat Cummins in the nets as part of preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth. Labuschagne has been vocal about his seam-up bowling skills, which he has developed while preparing for the home summer.

Originally a specialist batter with part-time leg-spin, Labuschagne has increased his bowling workload, especially during his time in England. He proved to be a key bowler for Glamorgan in county cricket and played an important role with his spin during Australia’s recent white-ball tour of England.

Labuschagne also bowled fast spells while captaining Queensland in the Sheffield Shield and is now positioning himself as a potential fourth seam bowling option, especially with Cameron Green unavailable and Mitchell Marsh’s injury concerns.

Cummins had to duck and evade Labuschagne’s bouncer in the nets. You can watch the video here:

Labuschagne bowled a brief one-over spell in the recent white-ball series against Pakistan, where he took the wicket of opposition captain Mohammad Rizwan.

“Fans would love to see Australia’s No. 3 bowling bouncers to Virat Kohli”- Marnus Labuschagne

In a recent appearance on *The Grade Cricketer*, Labuschagne revealed that he can reach speeds of 135 kph while bowling seam-up. He is emerging as a genuine option to bowl short spells and provide relief to the pace attack.

“What are you going to get there? Are you going to get the number three of Australia rolling in bowling bouncers to Virat Kohli? I think people want to see that. You want to see, can you play on someone’s ego? Are you going to be ducking bouncers from Marnus?” Labuschagne said on The Grade Cricketer.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy kicks off on Friday, November 22, with the first Test at Optus Stadium in Perth.
