Southern Super Stars opener Martin Guptill delivered a thrilling performance, smashing four straight sixes off Manipal Tigers bowler Daniel Christian. This feat occurred during match 11 of the Legends League Cricket 2024 on Tuesday, October 1, at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

Former New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill unleashed an explosive attack in the ninth over of the Southern Super Stars’ innings. He hit the first ball for a six over mid-wicket, followed by another six to fine-leg.

The right-handed batsman then sent a clean shot over deep mid-wicket and launched a massive six to long-on that shattered a window in the commentary box. Guptill also struck a boundary off the fifth ball and took two runs off the last, leading to Daniel Christian conceding an astonishing 30 runs in that over.

Guptill ended his innings with 68 runs off 29 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes before being out by Harbhajan Singh.

Martin Guptill’s efforts lifted the Southern Super Stars to a strong total

Manipal Tigers captain Harbhajan Singh won the toss and chose to bowl first after the match was shortened to 15 overs due to a wet outfield. Martin Guptill and Southern Super Stars captain Shreevats Goswami formed a solid opening partnership of 41 runs before Goswami was out for 18 off 11 balls, dismissed by Rahul Shukla.

Hamilton Masakadza had a tough game, scoring just one run off four balls. Guptill then teamed up with Chaturanga de Silva for an impressive 72-run partnership for the third wicket, with Silva making 26 runs off 13 balls and Guptill scoring 68 runs off 29 balls.

Chirag Gandhi contributed a valuable 36 runs off 17 balls, and Elton Chigumbura finished strong with an unbeaten 20 runs off seven balls, helping the Super Stars reach 194/7 in their 15 overs. Harbhajan Singh was the standout for the Manipal Tigers, taking three wickets.
