Team India opener Mayank Agarwal was left out of the playing XI for the 3rd Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Soon after that, he was seen working on his faltered technique with head coach Ravi Shastri at the end of the net session on the eve of the third Test.
Meanwhile, Mayank landed in the lands of the kangaroos with a Test average of 50 and one of the fixed openers for the red-ball cricket. However, the batsman from Karnataka has looked in all sorts of discomforts ever since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy began.
Mayank Agarwal’s technique came under the scanner time and again with the mode of his dismissals. Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar pointed out that it was Agarwal’s stance that has made things difficult for the batsman. Gavaskar further explained that the gap between Mayank’s legs is the main cause of the trouble.

The youngster managed only scores of 17, 9, 0, and 5 in the two Tests. Meanwhile, it was not the low scores but the way he got out was more of a concern which in turn had a major blow on his confidence. As a result, Mayank Agarwal was left out from the 3rd Test to accommodate Rohit Sharma, who returned to the Test side after more than a year.
Soon after the playing XI was announced, the batsman from Karnataka was seen working on his technique with Ravi Shastri. The gaffer had a close look at the nets while Mayank was batting before having a long chat with him at the end of the net session.

Meanwhile, dropping Mayank Agarwal was a bit harsh decision to be fair for a batsman who averages 47 in Test cricket. But considering that Hanuma Vihari was getting starts and looked confident, the management had no other option than dropping the talented batsman, who made his Test debut in Australia in the 2018-19 tour.
So far, Mayank has amassed 1005 runs from 13 matches at an average of 47.85 including three centuries and four fifties.
