KKR speedster Mitchell Starc demolished Abhishek Sharma’s stumps in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26. The match played two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against one-time winners Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Hyderabad lost their in-form opener in the opening over of their innings, which was a poor start for the team after they won the toss and decided to bat first.

In the IPL 2024 final, Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram want to bounce back for SunRisers Hyderabad, who are trailing the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The fourth ball of the inning saw Abhishek Sharma escape a near run-out opportunity, but the very next ball saw him destroyed by a Mitchell Starc beauty. Cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle declared on-air, “Ball of the tournament.” Travis Head was later dismissed by Vaibhav Arora.

Mitchell Starc of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a ripper to dismiss SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Abhishek Sharma in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final on Sunday (May 26) in Chennai.

Mitchell Starc, though, claimed a wicket in his opening over, just like in the first qualifier against SRH. It’s interesting to note that Travis Head started the inning without taking a strike. In the sixth ball of Starc’s opening over, young batsman Abhishek Sharma took the strike and was out.

Commentator Harsha Bhogle dubbed Starc’s bowl to Abhishek the “ball of the tournament” when it angled toward the left-hander and then swung away, enough to beat the left-hander’s stroke and rattle the top of the off stump.

On social media, the footage of Starc taking out Abhishek, the player with the highest strike rate in the IPL 2024, in the opening over of the Final match has gone viral.
