[Watch]- Mitchell Starc Surprises Fawad Alam With A Lethal Yorker

The first Test of the historic Australia tour of Pakistan- 2022 was played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. However the pitch used for the match received a lot of criticism from the cricketing fraternity. The benign nature of the surface meant that only 14 wickets fell over the course of five days and the match ended in a draw.

In the first innings, Pakistan declared at the score of 476/4. Pakistan batter Fawad Alam was not one of the six batters who got the chance in the middle. Neither did Fawad roll his arms throughout the Australian innings. In Pakistan’s 2nd innings, the openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique batted till both the teams agreed to a truce.

Even in the fielding department, Fawad didn’t get to do much as he neither took a catch nor effected a run-out. In this way, Fawad Alam became the first Pakistani player in the last 28 years to neither bat, bowl or take a catch during a completed Test match. Last was Asif Mujtaba vs New Zealand in Wellington in 1994.

Then the two teams moved to Karachi to play the second Test match of the series. Fawad Alam finally got a chance to bat on Day 3, at no.5. However, Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc spoilt the party for Fawad on the first ball itself. The fast, in-swinging yorker, completely baffled Fawad. The late movement did the trick for Starc as the ball hit Fawad straight on the pads. The umpire adjudged him LBW. The southpaw did try to review it, but the DRS showed that the ball was in the line of stumps and hence Pakistan lost a review as well.
