[WATCH]- Mohammed Siraj And Kusal Mendis Engage In A Heated Confrontation During SL vs IND Third ODI

During an ongoing ODI match in Sri Lanka on Wednesday, August 7th, pacer Mohammed Siraj of India and Kusal Mendis, a batter from that country had an altercation. The third and last One Day International game of this three-match series is taking place at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

At the 39th over of their inning event occurred. After the third ball of, both players got embroiled in a heated exchange as the Indian bowler made some gestures with his hands while going back to run up.

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was also seen cheering him up from the background, urging him to maintain good lengths while bowling him her balls.

The altercation with Mendis appeared to benefit the Indian pacer, as Siraj got Sadeera Samarawickrama out for a golden duck on the fifth ball of the same over. This dismissal left Sri Lanka at 184/4 after 38.5 overs.

Sri Lanka lost wickets rapidly despite a strong start

In the crucial match, Charith Asalanka, the captain of Sri Lanka, was fortunate enough to win the toss and choose to bat first. The host’s openers were Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando who set a good foundation with 89 runs in 119 balls. Nissanka scored 45 runs off 65 balls before he was removed by Axar Patel.

The Sri Lankan batsmen proceeded with the joyful beginning as Kusal Mendis and Avishka (96) shared an 82-run partnership for the second wicket. The latter was dismissed just four runs shy of his century by Riyan Parag, making his debut.

As of October 2023, Indian bowlers have staged a comeback, taking them down from 171/1 to 199/6, thanks to Riyan Parag who took three wickets. Sri Lanka were 207/6 incorporating Kamindu Mendis and Kusal Mendis.
