Team India bowler Mohammed Siraj had a great outing against Sri Lanka in the first ODI on Tuesday, January 10 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The hosts eventually won the match by a massive margin of 67 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Siraj’s performance impressed everyone, especially his delivery to dismiss Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis.
Batting first, Team India put on 373 runs on the back of Virat Kohli’s century and valuable contributions from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. In response, the visitors got off to a poor start, losing opener Avishka Fernando in just the fourth over, with nineteen runs on the board. Kusal Mendis walked out to bat at number three, hoping to get Sri Lankan innings on track.
However, the wicket-keeper batter couldn’t even open his account as he was dismissed for a duck. In the sixth over, Mohammed Siraj bowled a pitched-up delivery, which nipped back in sharply to rattle with stumps. Mendis failed to read the movement of the delivery, and went for the drive, missing the ball completely.
