Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni produced a brilliant effort to complete his 100 IPL catches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings pulled back things in the death overs to restrict Kings XI Punjab for 178 runs after a good start.
Opting to bat first, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul – the two in-form batsmen got Kings XI Punjab off to a flying start. They took calculative risks while the odd boundaries came by from here and there. They added 61 runs in eight overs before Mayank departed.
But KL Rahul combined well with first Mandeep Singh, who is playing his first game in IPL 2020, and then Nicholas Pooran to keep Kings XI Punjab scoreboard ticking. Rahul brought another fifty while Pooran ran a carnage to take the score over 150 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

However, tactical MS Dhoni was in display in the death over as planned things to perfection to remove Pooran and KL Rahul. Ravindra Jadeja first pulled off a brilliant high catch to get rid of Nicholas Pooran before Shardul Thakur executed a perfect plan to get rid of KL Rahul.
Dhoni packed the off-stump and asked Shardul to hit the wide off-stump line. It was a full wide delivery to which Rahul throws his bat out to, but doesn’t get close to the line. He ended up outside-edging the squeeze to a diving MS Dhoni — who has his 100th IPL catch.

Meanwhile, two back to back wickets put a brake on Kings XI Punjab as Chennai Super Kings restricted them to 178 runs. Glenn Maxwell chipped with 11 from 7 while Sarfaraz Khan contributed with 14 runs to post a challenging total.
Kings XI Punjab will now have to produce a good effort with the ball to defend the total and secure their second win in IPL 2020.
