There has always been strong opinions about MS Dhoni quitting sports altogether. A number of people believe that the past captain of the Indian national team ought to keep playing cricket. But others argue that it would be better if he allowed the young folks to show what they can do.
MS Dhoni hinted at returning to play during IPL 2025 without going into too much details. Concerning what he planned for himself after this, here is what the 43-year old said:
“The rules and regulations will be made for retentions. There is still a lot of time for all that. We will decide once we get to know about the rules and regulations. The ball is not in our court right now. When the rules get formalized, then we will decide.”
Furthermore, he added: “We need to make the decision that benefits the team the most, as our ultimate goal is the team’s success. Considering the rules, regulations, and retention policies, we will evaluate what is best for CSK and proceed with the most advantageous course of action.”
Before the last season, Dhoni passed the Chennai Super Kings captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad. He stepped down as the franchise’s most successful captain and one of the most successful captains in IPL history, having won five IPL trophies.
