Amid ongoing speculation about MS Dhoni’s retirement and talk that Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) recent home game against Delhi Capitals (DC) might have been his final appearance, the former India captain was seen traveling with the team to Chandigarh ahead of their upcoming clash with Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Following CSK’s 25-run loss to DC on Saturday, the team is set to face PBKS on Tuesday (April 8) at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium. Speculation Around MS Dhoni’s Retirement Grows After Parents’ Rare Stadium Appearance
In the previous match, social media buzzed with speculation about MS Dhoni’s future, with fans analyzing even the tiniest details to support their retirement theories. Some believed the rare presence of Dhoni’s parents, Pan Singh and Devaki Devi, at the stadium was a strong hint at his possible farewell.
Others attempted to lip-read his wife Sakshi’s conversation with their daughter Ziva, trying to piece together clues about his plans. Ultimately, CSK suffered a defeat, and the post-match presentation proceeded without any mention or clarification regarding Dhoni’s retirement.
Instead of emotional farewells, the match drew criticism for Dhoni’s performance, as he scored only 30 runs off 26 balls in a 184-run chase. In a recent interview, Dhoni hinted that he doesn’t plan to retire mid-season and will consider his future after playing in IPL 2025.
“No, not right now. I am still playing the IPL. I have kept it very simple: I take it one year at a time. And I am 43; by the time IPL 2025 finishes, I will be 44, so after that, I have 10 months to decide if I would play or not,” Dhoni said while speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast.
“But it is not me deciding, it is my body that decides. So, one year at a time, we will see after that,” Dhoni added.
