Nepal cricketer Nandan Yadav referenced former India captain MS Dhoni during a press conference following their agonising four-run loss to England in the T20 World Cup 2026. The match took place at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, February 8.

When asked about the takeaways from the close defeat, Yadav remarked that the key lesson going forward would likely be learning how to clear the ropes more effectively, much like MS Dhoni.

“The lesson must be like hitting some sixes like Mahendra Singh Dhoni,” he said.

In the post-match interaction, Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel admitted to feeling disappointed with the result but also voiced pride in his team’s performance. He said that they had come to the tournament not merely to take part, but to compete hard and showcase their best of cricket.

“Disappointment is there but at the same time very proud of the team. The way the boys showed their effort against England. That takes a lot of appreciation.”

”I think when we stepped out today in the ground, the only message to the group was, whatever we have, we’ll give a 110% in the ground. And I think boys have given all what they had. And that’s what makes them different.”

“And I’m very proud of them. We had that belief when we came in this World Cup. We didn’t come here to just participate. We wanted to compete. And we had that belief in the group that we can beat any of the sides if we play our best brand of cricket,” he said. (via Cricbuzz)

Nepal Fall Just Short Against England In Thriller

Nepal pushed England to the limit and came close to scripting a famous win in an edge-of-the-seat contest. Setting the tone by batting first, England put up a competitive 184 for 7. In response, the Asian side mounted a brave chase, displaying aggressive intent from the very beginning.

As the match headed into the final moments, Nepal needed only 24 runs from the last two overs and appeared well placed to seal the upset. However, they fell just short, finishing on 180 for 6 and missing out narrowly on a memorable victory.
