[WATCH]- MS Dhoni Stuns Dwayne Bravo With A Video Call During The IPL 2025 Auction

Legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni was seen speaking with Dwayne Bravo during the IPL 2025 mega auction on Sunday, November 25, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Bravo, now the mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), received a surprise call from his former captain Dhoni.

In a video shared by CSK on social media, Bravo was seen receiving a wireless earpiece from a CSK staff member as he looked at the computer screen and laughed heartily. Bravo had played for CSK under Dhoni’s captaincy for ten seasons, playing a key role in their title wins in 2011, 2018, and 2021.

On Day 1 of the IPL auction, several big names were up for bidding as franchises made aggressive moves to secure them for their squads. A total of 72 players were sold across 12 sets during the event. Indian players Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer grabbed the spotlight, emerging as the most expensive players of the auction.

How did CSK perform on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 auction?

Pant became the most expensive player in IPL auction history, sold for INR 27 crore to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), while Shreyas Iyer went to Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore. Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 23.75 crore.

On Day 1 of the auction, CSK acquired seven players in addition to their five retained players. The Chennai Super Kings franchise spent more than ₹39 crore on seven players on Day 1 and now have ₹15.6 crore remaining in their purse.

CSK purchased Rahul Tripathi (INR 3.40 crore), Devon Conway (INR 6.25 crore), Vijay Shankar (INR 1.20 crore), Rachin Ravindra (INR 4 crore), Ravichandran Ashwin (INR 9.75 crore), Noor Ahmad (INR 10 crore), and Khaleel Ahmed (INR 4.80 crore). After these buys, the five-time champions have INR 15.60 crore remaining in their purse with nine slots still to fill.
