MS Dhoni, the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, was handed a steaming cup of chai as he visited the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) dressing room during their practice sessions before the IPL 2024 showdown in Bengaluru.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings will face off for the second time in the IPL season on Saturday, May 18, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The upcoming game is critical for both teams because a win is required to earn a postseason spot.
Both teams will receive one point each in the event of a washout. But CSK will make it into the IPL 2024 playoffs, and RCB will tumble out of the competition. With 14 points from 13 games, the reigning champions are now ranked third in the team standings. With 12 points from 13 games, RCB, on the other hand, is ranked sixth.
RCB welcomes MS Dhoni with a hot cup of tea in Bengaluru
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni was made to feel welcome in the RCB camp two days before the match. The 42-year-old visited the RCB dressing room when the team’s support personnel brought him a hot cup of tea.
An Instagram video of Dhoni visiting their dressing room was posted by RCB’s official account. The former captain of CSK is shown wearing his team’s training gear in the video. Dhoni accepted the cup of tea, gave a “cheers” motion, and departed the dressing room. The post was titled “Welcome to Bengaluru, Mahi” by RCB.
Just one day before CSK’s season start against RCB, Dhoni relinquished his captaincy post to Ruturaj Gaikwad. He has since chosen to play a new, lower-order batting role for the team, which has also seen him take some crucial hits in the IPL 2024.
MS Dhoni, who bats typically at number six, seven, or even nine, has been known to consistently smash for large totals during the dying overs. Despite facing some injury issues, the wicketkeeper-batter has amassed 136 runs in his 13 games to date.
