[Watch] Mushfiqur Rahim Injures His Shoulder With Over The Top Celebration

Mushfiqur Rahim

Veteran Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim suffered a shoulder injury while celebrating a dismissal during the 3rd and final ODI against South Africa on Wednesday (March 23). Meanwhile, the Bangla Tigers thrashed the the Proteas to register their maiden win on South African soil.

Meanwhile, the incident took pace in the 29th over of the Proteas innings. Celebrated fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who was the star of the show, induced Kagsio Rabada to edge one delivery.

The ball was falling in front of Mushfiqur Rahim and the veteran had to make a dive to grab the catch. In an attempt to celebrate the wicket, the former Bangladesh captain tried to pull off a somersault and threw the ball up extravagantly only to clutch his shoulders a second later while wincing in pain.

Speaking of the game, the Proteas got off to a quick start after electing to bat first. But once the opening partnership was broken, they fell down like nine pins. Taskin Ahmed bowled a magnifient spell as he claimed five wickets to bundle out South Africa to a paltry score of 154.

The Bangladesh openers came out all guns blazing in the run chase with Tamim Iqbal taking charge and playing a captain’s innings. He kept dealing in boundaries and Liton kept farming the strike from the other end. In the process, Tamim notched up his 52nd ODI fifty as Bangladesh finished off the chase within 26.3 overs.

The Bangladesh cricketers are certainly overjoyed with the sweet victory as they beat South Africa 2-1.
