Naseem Shah teases Azam Khan in BPL match

Pakistan ace pace bowler Naseem Shah was seen teasing Azam Khan during the Bangladesh Premier League match between Khulna Tigers and Comilla Victorians at Sylhet International Ground, Sylhet on 31 January 2023.

Comilla Victorians captain Imrul Kayes won the toss and decided to field first. Mahmdul Hasan Joy went cheaply by Naseem Shah. Captain Shai Hope and Tamim Iqbal showed class with 184 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. Tamim was dismissed for 95 off 61 balls. Naseem Shah mocked Azam Khan while coming to crease in the final over. Azam Khan showed his power with a quickfire 12 off 4 deliveries with 1 four and 1 six. Khulna Tigers posted 210 for 2 in 20 overs.

Chasing down 211 runs to win, Litton Das retired hurt due to an injury. Captain Imrul Kayes was dismissed for just 5. Mohammad Rizwan and Johnson Charles displayed great hitting putting pressure on opponent bowlers. Both batters showed their class putting on 122 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rizwan scored 73 off 39 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Charles provided a powerful hitting display smashing Tigers bowlers all over the park. He completed his fifty off just 35 balls and then hammered them reaching 100 off 53 balls. It was a remarkable batting performance by Charles as he remained not out on 107 from 56 deliveries with 5 fours and 11 massive sixes.

Comila Victorians registered a 7-wicket win with 10 balls to spare. For his remarkable knock, Charles was named the player of the match award.

Bangladesh Premier League began in 2012 and still continuing. Due to the match-fixing scandal, the BPL did not happen in 2014. Dhaka Gladiators won the first two editions in 2012 and 2013. Comilla Victorians won the title in 2015.

Dhaka Dynamites won the title in 2016, followed by Rangpur Riders in 2017. Comilla Victorians won the BPL title again in 2018, Rajashi Royals won the title in 2019, and Victorians made it the third title in 2022.

2012, 2015, and 2022 editions saw 6 teams participating in the tournament. 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and the ongoing season has witnessed 7 teams.
