On Friday (August 29), Nitish Rana lost his temper and got into a heated altercation with Digvesh Rathi. A video showing Rana angrily charging at Rathi was posted on the official Instagram and X handles of the DPL, and it quickly went viral.

The incident unfolded after both cricketers engaged in mind games at the beginning of the over. Rana eventually had the upper hand, hitting Rathi for a six with a sweep shot. However, a verbal exchange followed, which infuriated the left-hander, prompting him to advance aggressively towards Rathi.

The tense situation forced umpires and players from both sides to step in and defuse the clash. You can watch the video here:

The clash occurred during the Eliminator of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi between the West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz. In the high-stakes encounter, Nitish Rana went after Digvesh Rathi’s bowling right away.

He struck a four on the second ball of Rathi’s first over and then followed it up with three consecutive sixes off the next three deliveries. In Rathi’s following over, Rana continued his assault, smashing another four and two sixes, one each on the third and sixth balls.

Rana Dominates The Batting And Defuses On-Field Fight

Rathi, a 25-year-old Delhi spinner who represents Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, ended up conceding 39 runs in just two overs, with Rana accounting for 38 of them off only 11 balls. The game also witnessed another heated moment involving Rana’s teammate Krish Yadav.

Attempting a big hit, Krish was dismissed by Anmol Sharma off Aman Bharti’s bowling on the first delivery of the 11th over. After his dismissal, he got into a verbal spat first with Bharti and then with another South Delhi player. Interestingly, Rana, who earlier clashed with Rathi, played peacemaker in the second altercation.

Rana, back with Delhi after two seasons with Uttar Pradesh, smashed an unbeaten 134 off 55 balls (8 fours, 15 sixes) to power West Delhi Lions to a 202-run chase in just 17.1 overs with three wickets down, sealing a spot in Qualifier 2. They will face East Delhi Riders on Saturday (August 30), with the winner meeting Central Delhi Kings in the final on Sunday, August 31.
