Novak Djokovic, the illustrious 24-time Grand Slam titleholder, recently unveiled his deep-rooted connection with Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli. Despite their paths not crossing physically, Djokovic shed light on the meaningful rapport they’ve cultivated over the years, cherishing their ongoing conversations.

He spoke warmly of Kohli’s exceptional cricketing journey, expressing gratitude for the mutual admiration and respect exchanged between them. Djokovic’s bond with India transcends his virtual connection with Kohli, as he fondly reminisced about his last visit to the nation a decade ago. Eager to immerse himself once more in India’s multifaceted allure, Djokovic articulated a keen desire to revisit the country soon.

He expressed a profound interest in delving deeper into India’s rich tapestry encompassing its captivating history, vibrant culture, and profound spirituality. This sentiment resonates with a genuine appreciation that extends beyond the confines of the tennis arena, painting a picture of Djokovic as an avid admirer of India’s cultural and spiritual ethos.

Novak Djokovic said: “Virat Kohli and I have been texting a little bit for a few years and we never got the chance to meet in person. But it was really a privilege and honour to listen to him speak nicely about me and I obviously admire his career and achievement and everything he has done.”

“I have been to India only once so far in my life. It was, I think, 10 or 11 years ago. I came to play an exhibition event in New Delhi for two days. It was a very short stay. So, I really hope that I will be able to come back in the near future, too, because I have a great desire, great wish to explore your beautiful country that has so much history, so much culture to offer to the world and spirituality as well. It’s amazing.”

As the tennis maestro gears up for the Australian Open, eyeing a potential 25th Grand Slam triumph and the coveted Golden Slam accolade, his first-round clash looms large. Djokovic is slated to lock horns with Croatian challenger Dino Prizmic, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown.

Meanwhile, in a parallel narrative, cricket enthusiasts anticipate Virat Kohli’s return to the pitch. The dynamic Indian batsman is poised to make a comeback during the second T20I against Afghanistan in Indore, marking his resurgence after an absence attributed to personal commitments.
