Watch – Outstanding KL Rahul Reverse Sweeps Jimmy Neesham For A Six

KL Rahul

Team India cricketer KL Rahul is currently in the form of his life. After finishing as the highest run-scorer in the T20Is, Rahul continued his excellent run in the first ODI against New Zealand at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Asked to bat, India came out with a brand new opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal with two of their regular openers injured. The young pair provided a good start adding 50 runs for the first wicket in eight overs in challenging conditions. While the openers looked to make the New Zealand bowlers pay, Tim Southee and Colin de Grandhomme removed the openers to have India at 54 for two in a span of five balls.

Since then, India were in control of the proceedings with Shreyas Iyer scoring a fine century. He first partnered skipper Virat Kohli and then KL Rahul as India posted 347 runs from their 50 overs. Kohli departed just after reaching his fifty but Rahul and Iyer ensured the runs come at a good pace. Iyer departed after scoring 103 runs while Rahul remained unbeaten on 88 runs and a brisk knock from Kedar Jadhav ensured India finish on a high.

Meanwhile, Rahul, in particular, was brilliant with the bat hitting the New Zealand bowlers at will. During his knock, KL Rahul produced an outrageous shot hitting Jimmy Neesham for a reverse sweep six. The incident took place in the final ball of the 49th over and Neesham was taken aback as he didn’t expect in his wildest dreams to get hit like that.
