[WATCH] “Paaji, Sorry Yaar Bhul Gaya” Moment Steals Spotlight During Team India Segment

A humorous moment involving Tilak Varma caught attention during a knowledge-based segment aired by the broadcaster amid India’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home.

During the segment, players were asked questions related to India’s history in the T20 World Cups. One of the questions focused on identifying the Indian pacer with the most wickets in T20 World Cup history.

Tilak initially named Jasprit Bumrah but soon realised his mistake and corrected himself by taking Arshdeep Singh’s name. Realising the slip, he offered a cheeky apology that instantly stood out.

“Paaji, sorry yaar bhul gaya (Sorry brother, I forgot),” he said, turning the moment into a light-hearted exchange. Despite this brief error, Tilak went on to answer the remaining questions correctly, showing his overall awareness of India’s T20 World Cup records.

Correct Answers And Tilak Varma’s Performance

Apart from the wicket-taker question, Tilak successfully responded to several other queries. He identified Virat Kohli as the player with the most T20 World Cup appearances for India and Rohit Sharma as the only Indian to feature in all nine editions of the tournament. He also recalled Ravichandran Ashwin as the player who hit the winning runs in the famous India–Pakistan clash during the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Tilak further named Irfan Pathan and Virat Kohli as the Man of the Match winners in the 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cups respectively. He correctly mentioned Suresh Raina as the only Indian centurion in T20 World Cup history and Yusuf Pathan as the only Indian to make his T20I debut in a World Cup final. His answers reflected strong knowledge, making the brief mix-up even more amusing.

Tilak, however, has been ruled out of the first three matches of the ongoing series against New Zealand as he recovers from testicular torsion surgery. He is expected to regain full fitness well before the T20 World Cup 2026, which begins on February 7.

Arshdeep Singh’s Growing Impact In T20 Cricket

Arshdeep Singh continues to establish himself as a key figure in India’s T20 setup. He currently holds the record for most wickets by an Indian in T20 World Cups, having taken 27 wickets in 14 matches across the 2022 and 2024 editions. Jasprit Bumrah follows closely with 26 wickets from 18 matches.

Beyond World Cups, Arshdeep is also India’s highest wicket-taker overall in T20 internationals. Since making his debut against England in 2022, he has picked up 111 wickets in 73 matches at an average of 19.01 and an economy rate of 8.39, with best figures of 4 for 9. His importance was evident again in the first T20I against New Zealand, where India won by 48 runs and Arshdeep returned figures of 1 for 31 in four overs.
