The ongoing comparison between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) continues to fuel online discussions. From unusual ‘Man of the Match’ prizes like motorbikes and hair dryers to unexpected fan behavior, netizens are thoroughly engaged.
Recently, this debate took a humorous turn when a video surfaced showing a Pakistani fan watching the IPL on his phone during a live PSL match at the stadium on Friday. The clip has since gone viral on social media, injecting new life into the IPL vs. PSL conversation. However, ‘IndiaTimes’ has not been able to verify the exact location where the video was shot.
The IPL remains one of the most popular and financially powerful cricket leagues globally. Meanwhile, since its inception in 2015, the PSL has carved a niche for itself through competitive gameplay and emerging talent. The viral moment has sparked a wave of reactions online, with one user cheekily noting that people seem to prefer watching IPL over PSL.

“PSL Is Just Tiny”: Former Pakistani Cricketer
Former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif has downplayed the stature of the Pakistan Super League, calling it a “small domestic league.” With this statement, he seemingly closed the chapter on the long-standing IPL vs. PSL debate.
Speaking on the Geo Podcast, Latif remarked that while there have been attempts to portray the PSL as bigger than the IPL, the reality is different. According to him, PSL 10 remains a modest domestic tournament when compared to the IPL.
Latif further stated that other leagues like the BPL, SA20, The Hundred, and ILT20 have now surpassed the PSL in popularity, pushing it down to sixth place in the global franchise cricket hierarchy.
