[WATCH]- Prasidh Krishna Dismisses Zak Crawley For 64 On Day 2

Prasidh Krishna claimed the wicket of Zak Crawley to give India their second breakthrough on Day 2 of the fifth Test against England at The Oval on Friday, August 1. Crawley was looking in fine touch, scoring 64 off 57 deliveries, but couldn’t carry on as England lost their second wicket for 129 shortly after the lunch interval.

The dismissal occurred in the 22nd over of England’s first innings. Krishna delivered a short-of-a-length ball on the off-stump line, and Crawley, attempting to play off the front foot, mistimed his shot. The ball went straight to Ravindra Jadeja at mid-wicket, who completed a comfortable catch.

Interestingly, just an over earlier, Prasidh Krishna had thrown the ball back at Crawley following a defensive shot. He later offered a quick apology for the moment of frustration. You can watch the video here:

India Strike Back By Removing England Openers Crawley And Duckett In 5th Test

Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj provided India with crucial breakthroughs on Day 2 of the fifth Test, removing England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett to help the visitors regain control. Duckett, like Crawley, missed the chance to convert his start into a big score. He made a quick 43 off 38 balls, including two sixes and five fours.

At the time of reporting, England were 142 for 3, with Joe Root and Harry Brook at the crease, trailing India by 82 runs in their first innings. Ollie Pope, who scored 22, was the most recent wicket to fall—dismissed lbw by Siraj after India successfully reviewed the decision.

Earlier in the day, India were bowled out for 224, having resumed from their overnight score of 204 for 6. Karun Nair top-scored with 57 off 109 balls, while Sai Sudharsan (38 off 108) and Washington Sundar (26 off 55) contributed valuable runs.

With India trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, this Test is must-win for Shubman Gill’s side to avoid a series defeat. They are playing without key players—No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is rested, and vice-captain Rishabh Pant, sidelined due to a foot injury.
