[WATCH]- Prithvi Shaw Regains Form With A Quick 49 Off 26 In SMAT 2024 Quarterfinal Against Vidarbha

Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, bounced back with a stellar 49 off 26 balls against Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) quarterfinal in Bengaluru on December 11. His knock included four sixes and five boundaries.

Shaw also forged a vital 83-run stand with Ajinkya Rahane to lay the foundation for a 222-run chase. This explosive innings came after inconsistent scores of 33, 0, 23, 40, 0, and 34 in the tournament. Shaw now looks to maintain his form in the semifinal against Baroda on December 13.

Kevin Pietersen and Shane Watson support Prithvi Shaw to rebound after IPL 2025 auction snub

Former cricketer Kevin Pietersen and former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson have expressed support for Prithvi Shaw after he went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Pietersen emphasized Shaw’s immense talent and predicted a strong comeback.

The 44-year-old urged Shaw to surround himself with mentors who can guide him back to form, sharing his advice on X:

“Some of the greatest sports stories are COMEBACK stories. If Prithvi Shaw has decent people around him who care about his long-term success, they’d sit him down, tell him to get off social media & train his absolute backside off in getting super fit. It’ll get him back into the correct path where past success can return. Too talented to throw it all away. Love, KP!”

Prithvi Shaw scored 304 runs across 16 matches in the last two IPL seasons, with only two half-centuries. The 25-year-old was recently left out of a Mumbai Ranji Trophy game due to disciplinary and off-field concerns.

On the international stage, Shaw debuted in 2018 with a century against the West Indies, drawing comparisons to Sachin Tendulkar. However, his form declined, and he last played for India in 2021.
