The visiting team won the toss and elected to bat first. As the Indian players took the field, the crowd was electric, welcoming their captain with chants of “Mumbai cha raja, Rohit Sharma.”

Rohit delivered a mixed performance in the first match, with scores of 2 and 52 in his two innings. However, his captaincy came under fire from analysts for some questionable decisions, which contributed to the hosts’ eight-wicket defeat.

Ravichandran Ashwin secured the first breakthrough for India in the second Test against New Zealand

The Kiwis won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway successfully faced the first seven overs of seam bowling without losing a wicket, accumulating 30 runs for their team.

Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took the first wicket for India by dismissing New Zealand captain Latham for 15 runs off 22 balls. At the time of this report, New Zealand was 45 for one after 13 overs, with Conway (21) and Will Young (8) at the crease.

The hosts made three changes to their lineup, bringing in Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Akash Deep to replace KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj. For New Zealand, Matt Henry was ruled out due to a glute injury, with Mitchell Santner stepping in for him.
