[WATCH] R Ashwin Dries Clothes On Ground As Fans Humorously Call For Him To Open The Innings

Ravichandran Ashwin played a key role in India’s recovery after a disastrous start in the first innings of the ongoing Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. After being asked to bat first, India struggled early on, losing three crucial wickets in the opening session—Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6) all fell cheaply, leaving India in trouble.

The situation worsened when India found themselves at 144 for 6 later in the day. Ashwin then came to the crease and, along with Ravindra Jadeja, delivered a much-needed rescue act. The pair stitched together a remarkable 199-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Ashwin completed his century before the end of the day, finishing with a splendid 113 off 133 balls, including 11 fours and 2 sixes. Jadeja, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 86 as India closed the first day at 339 for 6, eventually being bowled out for 376.

On the second day, Ashwin entertained fans with an unexpected act after play had ended. As the crowd lingered in the stands, Ashwin emerged from the dressing room to dry his clothes on the ground, amusing the audience, some of whom even cheered him on and jokingly suggested he should open the innings.

Here is a video of the incident:

In the game itself, India bowled Bangladesh out for 149 on day two, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 4 wickets. Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja each contributed with two wickets. Ashwin, however, went wicketless in the first innings but will aim to make an impact in the second. India ended day two on 81 for 3, with Shubman Gill (33) and Rishabh Pant (12) at the crease, building a lead of 308 runs.

As the match heads into its crucial stages, Ravichandran Ashwin’s all-round abilities will be key for India. While his century has already put India in a commanding position, the team will look to him for a stronger performance with the ball in the second innings.

With a substantial lead and Bangladesh struggling, India has a great opportunity to push for a win. The fans, who have been entertained by Ashwin both on and off the field, will be hoping for another memorable contribution from the veteran spinner as India seeks to close out the match on a high note.
