Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant slammed a brilliant century on day one of the ongoing fifth Test match against England on Friday, July 1 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He came at the crease when India was in a spot of bother. However, Pant’s counter-attacking innings took the Indian team to a comfortable position. As the wicket-keeper batter got to the three-figure mark, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid’s reaction was priceless.
In the fifty-eight over, Stuart Broad bowled a short ball from round the wicket, angled into the left-hander. Pant pulled the ball to the fine leg and pushed for the second run. In the end, he dived to make his ground and complete his Test century. Rishabh Pant took his helmet off and waved his bat around as the crowd applauded his special knock.
Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, who is usually known for his calm demeanor, was also animated in the Indian dressing room. He rose from his seat, and let out a massive cheer with both hands up in the air, for the wicket-keeper batter on completing his century.

We thought from the team’s point of view: Rishabh Pant on his partnership with Ravindra Jadeja
As Rishabh Pant was going great runs from one end, Ravindra Jadeja too kept the scorers busy. The duo put together a 222-runs stand for the sixth wicket partnership and helped India to get to cross 300 runs on day one. Speaking about his partnership with Jadeja, at the post-day press conference, Rishabh Pant said,
“The discussion with Jadeja was to focus on the partnership. If you think about it individually, then the pressure can arise. So, we thought from the team’s point of view. I think I was just focusing on the ball, yes, the pressure was there. But if you focus on the pressure, you might not get the result. I try to focus on my process and that might give me results most of the time.”
Ravindra Jadeja is unbeaten on 83 runs off 163 balls, including ten boundaries. He will resume the Indian innings at 338/7 on day two along with Mohammed Shami.
