The table-toppers Gujarat Titans are in a spot of bother against the Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. They managed to put on 143 runs on the board in the first innings.

The Gujarat Titans have opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, the batters were not able to make the most of the opportunity in the match. Gujarat Titans lost four wickets for just 67 runs on the board in 11.2 overs. All-rounder Rahul Tewatia and Sai Sudharsan then got together to stabilize their innings. They put together 45 runs partnership for the fifth wicket.

During their stay in the middle, Rahul Tewatia appeared to be angry at Sai Sudharsann after the latter refused a single in the 12th over of the match. Tewatia hit a slow outside off delivery towards cover-point and set off for a quick single. However, his partner at the other end, Sai Sudharsan did not run and Tewatia had to get back to his crease. This irked the all-rounder who looked livid, having denied a single.

Rahul Tewatia was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada in the seventeenth over of the innings. Tewatia tried to hit a good length delivery over mid-wicket, but the ball took a thick top edge and flew towards the right of the backward point. Sandeep Sharma completed the catch, to send Rahul Tewatia back for just eleven runs.
