After removing Ryan Rickelton, Ravindra Jadeja struck again by getting rid of the second opener, Aiden Markram, on Day 4 of the India–South Africa second Test in Guwahati on Tuesday, November 25. The left-arm spinner bowled Markram for 29, leaving the visitors at 74/2. The wicket fell in the 29th over of South Africa’s second innings.

Jadeja delivered a length ball from wide of the crease targeting middle and leg, and it turned subtly off the surface. Markram misjudged the line, with the ball slipping past his forward defence and hitting the off stump. This was the third time Jadeja has dismissed Markram in Test cricket, coming in just 55 deliveries. You can watch the video here:

Despite Jadeja’s Double Breakthrough, India Remain Far Behind In 2nd Test

Ravindra Jadeja removed both South African openers, yet India remain significantly behind in the second Test. The Proteas have stretched their second-innings lead to over 350. At the time of writing, they were 79/3, with Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi at the crease, ahead by 367 runs. Washington Sundar claimed the latest wicket, dismissing Temba Bavuma for just three.

South Africa, opting to bat first, posted a formidable 489 in their opening innings. Senuran Muthusamy anchored the effort with a composed 109 off 206 balls, while Marco Jansen contributed an attacking 93 off 91. Kuldeep Yadav was India’s standout bowler, finishing with four wickets.

In reply, India were bowled out for 201, handing the visitors a massive 288-run advantage. Yashasvi Jaiswal (58 off 97), Washington Sundar (48 off 92), and Kuldeep Yadav (19 off 134) offered some resistance, but Marco Jansen dominated with the ball, taking 6/48, supported by Simon Harmer’s three wickets.

South Africa, already 1–0 up in the two-match series, are eyeing a historic achievement. They won the first Test by 30 runs in Kolkata, their first victory on Indian soil since 2010. Now, they will look to claim their first Test series win in India since 1999/2000.

Under Temba Bavuma, who remains unbeaten as captain with 10 wins and one draw in 11 matches, the Proteas also lifted the ICC World Test Championship earlier this year.
