WATCH: Ravindra Jadeja Removes Najmul Shanto With A Stunner

On October 1, during the fifth day of the second Test at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, Ravindra Jadeja delivered a crucial blow to Bangladesh’s hopes by bowling out their captain, Najmul Shanto.

Shanto, who had struggled throughout his innings, attempted a reverse sweep but was unable to connect, resulting in his dismissal for 19 runs off 37 balls. This event occurred in the 28th over of Bangladesh’s second innings, when Jadeja bowled a straight delivery targeting the leg stump.

Shanto’s failure to make contact led to the ball crashing into the stumps, effectively ending his innings and breaking a promising 55-run partnership with fellow opener Shadman Islam.

Jadeja’s Milestone Achievement

This wicket marked a significant milestone for Jadeja, as it was his 300th Test wicket. He became only the third Indian all-rounder, following in the footsteps of Ravichandran Ashwin and Kapil Dev, to reach the impressive achievement of accumulating 3,000 runs and taking 300 wickets in Test cricket.

In the first innings of this match, Jadeja had managed to secure just one wicket, but he showcased his all-around skills in the series opener, where he claimed five wickets and scored 86 runs. His outstanding performance in that match helped India secure a commanding 280-run victory, giving them a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Praise from the Coaching Staff

Jadeja’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. Morne Morkel, India’s bowling coach, commended the all-rounder’s achievements, emphasizing his significance to the team. Morkel described Jadeja as a “complete package,” praising his ability to perform with both bat and ball, along with his exceptional fielding skills.

After Day 4, Morkel expressed his admiration, stating, “He bats, he bowls, he’s a guy in the field that can make magic happen. Always a guy that you want in your team, and he’s done that for so many years for India.”

Morkel also conveyed his excitement about being in the Indian cricket environment and his eagerness to share knowledge and experience with the players, further highlighting the value Jadeja brings to the team.
