Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant again proved his mantle in the longest format by playing a crucial 46 runs knock after the team was reduced to three wickets for less than fifty runs.
He and vice-captain Cheteshwar Pujara strung a partnership of 64 with the former doing the bulk of the scoring in the partnership. Pant seemed to find his groove early into the second session, hitting a couple of boundaries after a cautious start. He hit the second six off his innings courtesy of a full toss from Mehidy Hasan Miraz. However, the off-spinner struck the very next ball.
Rishabh Pant surprisingly decided to go on the back foot and make room for himself to a fullish delivery in an attempt to play a late cut. The left-handed batter got an inside edge, which bounced on the crease and found its way to hit the stumps.

Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara save the day for India
Then Shreyas Iyer and Pujara revived the innings to put India in a strong position stitching a 149 runs partnership. Both of them brought up their respective half-centuries. Pujara was again deprived of reaching the three-figure mark which he has yet to cross since January 2019. He was bowled by Taijul Islam after scoring 90.
Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam took wickets for the hosts taking two and three wickets respectively. Hasan has continued his purple patch against India even in the longest format. One of his wickets was that of Rishabh Pant who could potentially take the game away from them.
Bangladesh took two wickets in the last session right before the end of the day’s play dismissing the well-set Pujara and Axar Patel. At the end of the day, India ended up with 278-6. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten at 82 and will look to reach the three figures mark tomorrow.
