Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who represents Team India, has a tendency of attempting ‘unusual’ shots that led to his loneliness yet again. Pant also lost his wicket goofing around trying some innovation on the third day of the fourth BGT 2024-25 Test at the MCG.

Just to get out for 28 runs, Pant got out at a wrong time on the first day of the Boxing Day Test. His dismissal put the side on the back foot and it built the hammer on the remaining batsmen to help the team out of trouble. It’s a propensity of Pant to fail to capitalize on his start, which has been evident time and time again in his career, with this latest dismissal only fueling questioning marks over his shot selection.

India’s team wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant once again had an undisciplined shot, which cost him big time. Even on Day 3 of the fourth BGT 2024-25 Test at MCG, Pant got out while attempting a nifty shot for his team, which placed it in trouble. His dismissal for just 28 runs came at the wrong time in India’s first innings of the Boxing Day Test.

Pant faced a few moments of sheer nervousness when he had two lives in the slip and there were two near run-outs when he and Ravindra Jadeja failed to communicate properly. Even so, here it seemed as if Pant, who had initially faced troubles, had gotten into a good rhythm to continue his innings. But his choice of charging a full-length delivery from Boland behind the keeper turned out to be a blunder.

The heave got a top edge and Nathan Lyon easily took a catch at deep third man after initial miscommunication. Pant got dismissed, which put the Indian team in a spot of bother and the rest of the batting order had to come to the party. An inability to really capitalize on a good start has emerged as a major issue in Pant’s batting, and this dismissal surely would add more woes to his shot-making prowess.
