On Sunday, June 29, Rohit Sharma marked the first anniversary of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup victory by posting a touching montage video on Instagram. Exactly a year earlier, he had lifted the trophy in Barbados after India edged out South Africa by seven runs in a nail-biting final.
Virat Kohli played a pivotal role in the title clash, anchoring the innings with a composed half-century to help India post a competitive total of 176/7. He received valuable support from Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27). India’s bowlers then delivered a well-rounded performance, holding South Africa to 169/8 to secure a historic win.
The triumph ended India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy, following several close calls since their 2013 Champions Trophy success. The team received a hero’s welcome on their return, with jubilant celebrations unfolding in Mumbai amidst massive crowds of fans.
To mark the first anniversary, Rohit Sharma, captain of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning team, looked back on memorable moments from the tournament by posting a compilation video on his official Instagram account. He captioned it:
“On This Day.”🏆🇮🇳💙

“I was panicking”: Rohit Sharma recalls tense moment at 34/3 in 2024 T20 WC final
In a recent conversation with JioHotstar, Rohit Sharma admitted he felt a sense of panic after India lost three early wickets during the powerplay, having chosen to bat first. Reflecting on his mindset in the early stages of the final, he shared (as reported by News18):
“I was panicking. I wasn’t comfortable. And I thought we’d let them into the game. Of course, in the back of my mind, I always believed our lower middle order, although it hadn’t batted much during the tournament, had made an impact whenever given the opportunity. Not many people are talking about Axar’s knock, but it was the game-changer. Scoring 47 off 31 at that stage was vital.”
