[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Leaves For Australia; Wife Ritika Bids Him Farewell At Mumbai Airport

India captain Rohit Sharma has left for Australia to join the team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He was spotted at Mumbai airport on Saturday evening (November 23), bidding farewell to his wife Ritika Sajdeh with a hug as she came to see him off.

Last week, India captain Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh announced the birth of their second child. The couple shared the news on Instagram with an animated image of their now four-member family. The caption read, “FAMILY – the one where we are FOUR,” along with the birth date, “15.11.2024.”

Earlier, Rohit Sharma had hinted at the arrival of a new family member when he expressed uncertainty about participating in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, starting in Perth on November 22.

Now, the skipper appears ready to return to action, as he was seen departing for Australia, with his wife accompanying him to bid farewell.

Jasprit Bumrah leads by example as captain in the Perth Test

In Rohit Sharma’s absence, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has taken charge and is leading by example in the first Test in Perth. Bumrah claimed four wickets on Day 1 and completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Alex Carey with the first ball of his spell on Day 2, helping bowl Australia out for a mere 104 after India’s first-innings collapse for 150 on Day 1.

By taking Carey’s wicket, Bumrah not only secured his first five-wicket haul as India captain but also became the first Indian pacer to claim 50 wickets in a single edition of the WTC, a feat previously achieved only by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Building on Bumrah’s efforts, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul put together an unbeaten 172-run partnership, giving India a commanding 218-run lead by the end of Day 2.
