Team India’s opener, Rohit Sharma, broke free in spectacular style, smashing two trademark pull shots for sixes during the second ODI against Australia at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, October 23. The right-handed batsman hit two sixes in just three balls, sending the crowd into jubilation.

The fireworks came in the 19th over, with Australian captain Mitchell Marsh turning to Mitch Owen for his second spell. Facing short-pitched deliveries from Owen, Rohit Sharma confidently drove them over square leg and wide fine leg for sixes. The over concluded with a boundary off Shreyas Iyer’s bat, as India scored 17 runs from six deliveries.

Earlier, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to field, leaving Shubman Gill on the losing side for the second straight match of the series. While India went into the game unchanged, Australia made three alterations to their lineup, bringing in Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, and Xavier Bartlett in place of Josh Philippe, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Nathan Ellis.

Meanwhile, the Nagpur-born batter made a strong comeback after scoring just 8 in the first ODI at Perth’s Optus Stadium. The experienced batsman successfully negotiated some probing new-ball spells from the Australians and has made the most of the opportunity. Even upon reaching a well-earned fifty, his celebrations remained understated.

At the time of writing, India were 135/2, with Shreyas Iyer also reaching his half-century after managing only 12 in the series opener. The visitors faced early setbacks again, as Xavier Bartlett struck twice in a single over, removing Shubman Gill (9) and Virat Kohli (0). In their last ODI clash at Adelaide Oval, Team India had emerged victorious over Australia.
