[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Switches Bails In The INDvBAN First Test, Video Goes Viral

India captain Rohit Sharma exhibited superstitious behavior during the first Test against Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, September 22. The 37-year-old humorously switched the bails to the striker’s end while laughing and casting his “spell.”

Whether the occurrence happened during the first or second innings of the Bangladesh innings is not something that can be confirmed. Generally, Virat Kohli can be observed switching bails when India has not been successful in taking wickets previously.

Relating to the match itself, Rohit Sharma & Co. won by a large margin of 280 runs against Bangladesh in their opening Test. Nonetheless, he was unable to contribute with the bat as he scored just 6 and 5 in his two innings.

Rohit Sharma praises Rishabh Pant on his Test return and highlights Ravichandran Ashwin as Player of the Match

Rohit Sharma praised Rishabh Pant for his century in the comeback Test after he returned to competitive cricket earlier this year. The reaction came as Pant returned with scores of 39 and 109 in his two innings. Rohit said this (on Cricbuzz):

“(On Pant’s hundred) He’s been through some really tough times. The way he has managed himself through those tough times was superb to watch. He came back in the IPL, followed by a very successful World Cup and this is the format he loves the most.”

“For us, it was never about what is he going to do with the bat, we always knew what he had with the bat and with the gloves as well. It was just about giving him the game time. Credit to him as well, he went on to play Duleep Trophy and got ready for this Test match and had an impact straightaway in the game” Sharma added.

Player of the Match Ravichandran Ashwin was also praised by Rohit Sharma for his all-round performance during the initial test match against Bangladesh. He notably hit 113 runs and took six wickets in both innings; he stated:

“(On Ashwin) He’s next in line to talk to you, he’s the right man to answer what he does. Every time we look up to him, he’s always there for us whether with the bat or ball. I don’t know if I speak here, it’ll be enough of what he does for this team. Every time we see him come out and do the job, it’s always so brilliant.”

The 37-year-old praised Ashwin for leading Dindigul Dragons to their maiden title in the TNPL (2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League) T20 tournament. The India captain said:

“He’s never out of the game. The last competitive cricket he played was IPL and then he had some fun playing TNPL. We watched him bat up the order and that’s what helped him as well to bat the way he did.”

Shubman Gill also hit an unbeaten 119 runs during the second innings against Bangladesh, other than Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin.
