[Watch] Salman Agha’s Stunner Denies Mitchell Marsh A Century

Pakistan cricketer Salman Agha’s brilliant effort on the field denied Mitchell Marsh a well-deserved century on the third day of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The all-rounder walked back to the pavilion disappointed on missing the three-figure mark.

The incident took place in the fifth over of the Australian innings. Mir Hamza bowled a good length delivery to Mitchell Marsh outside the off-stump. Marsh pushed hard at the delivery and for a thick outside edge. The ball flew to the wide of first slip, where Salman Agha dived to his right to take a brilliant one-handed low catch. Marsh walked back to a standing ovation from the crowd. He slammed 96 runs from 130 deliveries, with thirteen boundaries.

Australia lead by 241 at stumps on the third day in the Boxing Day Test

Australia has taken a lead of 241 runs in the second innings at the end of the third day’s play in the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Mitchell Marsh played a blazing knock and was well supported by Steve Smith who scored a fifty. Australia has managed 187 runs at the loss of six wickets. Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza have taken three wickets each.

Earlier in the match, Australia made 318 batting first in the match. In response, Pakistan conceded a lead of 54 runs, as they were bowled out for 264 runs. There were some good performances in the batting order, by the likes of Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood and Mohammed Rizwan. However, they couldn’t get a big score, which hampered the score. Aamer Jamal and Shaheen Afridi also contributed valuable runs lower down the order for Pakistan. Meanwhile, Australian skipper Pat Cummins took a five-wicket haul in the innings and Nathan Lyon also took four wickets.
