IPL franchises usually organise team games sessions within the team to help players create good team bonding. Recently Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) organised a game session that involved captain Shreyas Iyer, Sam Billings and other KKR teammates. Iyer and Billings were up against each other in a virtual games session.

The first match between the duo kicked off with a table tennis match. The English wicketkeeper-batsman defeated the KKR captain in the first game. The pool game was the next game in the series. However, in the second match of the series, Iyer made a good comeback and levelled the scoreline as 1-1.

With scores levelled, the third game was the deciding game of the series. Shreyas and Sam were up against each other in a FIFA match on Playstation. Billings selected Manchester United as his team, while Iyer selected Chelsea. Billings had the last laugh as he won the last match by 5-4.

Kolkata Knight Riders also posted the video of this team game on their Instagram handle for the fans. The post captioned “Table Tennis. Pool. FIFA. Watch who wins the all-important DECIDER in our Round 3 of the Team Room challenge! Shreyas Iyer Sam Billings #AmiKKR #KnightsUnplugged #IPL2022.”

“He is there to console the players” – Shreyas Iyer defends KKR CEO

KKR CEO Venky Mysore faced heavy criticism after the KKR captain revealed that the CEO is also involved in the team selections. Fans also blamed Venky Mysore for the bad performance of KKR. However, Shreyas Iyer came with a clarification over his  “CEO is also obviously involved in team selections” statement in the next match.

However, KKR Captain Shreyas Iyer corrected himself in the next post-match presentation and said that the CEO is there to console players and give outside support. Iyer said  “Also I want to clarify from the last interview. When I took the CEO’s name, I wanted to say that he’s there to console the players who’ve been sitting out. It’s tough for us as well when we select the team.”
